Newsletters:
Digital community Boards
All of my work, including newsletters, considers my mission of narrative restructuring heavily, with a focus on making social justice and civic awareness central to how we communicate and engage with our communities.
Managing CRM was an insightful experience because it allowed me to analyze engagement data, including newsletter opens, shares, and link clicks. This provided valuable insight into what content resonated with our audience and helped guide what we featured and promoted in our monthly and event-specific newsletters.

While working at the Office of Community Engagement, a non-profit focused on post-secondary educational support, I send out monthly newsletters to showcase and engage our audiences with community events, resources, and support. I aimed to highlight information and partner organizations that spoke to our core audiences, while promoting our program’s main services and network of support to students, parents, and prospective participants.
Community ←Building
Through our newsletters, we focused highly on solidifying our community presence and expanding our social advocacy networks by engaging with and uplifting our community partner organizations. We often featured their work, resources, and events in our newsletters to amplify the net of support our audiences and participants could access.
Inclusion & Translation →
A significant percentage of our participants were predominantly Spanish speakers, or had parents that needed our content to be translated into Spanish. Therefore, I translated much of our content into Spanish; pamphlets, infographics, permission slips, and newsletters. We understood as a team that for parents to become engaged with the program, we had to be able to offer accurate representation and inclusivity.
Email Marketing, or Community Conversations
In non-profit communications, it is paramount to feature news, events, reminders, and information points that directly concern and interest your audiences. Newsletters are a crucial way to engage your audiences in community-centered conversations and to draw them into participation.
